Elizabeth at Simple Simon & Company made this absolutely adorable skirt. I first saw it on her blog and fell in love but when saw I it on Studio 5 and just how easy it was I knew I had to make one. Although you can't make just one when you have 3 girls.
So this is hers...
And these are mine...
I just loved how they turned out, and so did my girls!. Mine aren't as poofy but I am hoping that as I wash them they will poof out a little more.
The tutorial at Simple Simon & Company was step by step and very easy to follow but I did make a couple of my own changes. For starters I didn't buy enough material. I purchased 2 yards for each skirt but only had enough circle to go up the whole skirt on the green one which was for my 5 yr old. The other 2 only went a little over half way up. I also used plain old cotton. Elizabeth suggests bottom weight fabric or a poly/cotton blend. I kind of liked the idea of the fabric fraying but to make sure it doesn't fray too much I went around each circle with Fray Check. So it will fray some but hopefully not too much.
I love the skirts and am now wanting to find something else to sew, so anyone have any great ideas??
Oh and I hope you all had a Happy Easter!
