Fudge & Orange Cookies

I love the combination of chocolate and orange and have really been craving it.  I don't have any yummy recipes that include this combination so I went on a search.  At allrecipes.com I found this yummy looking cookie recipe so I thought I would give them a try.

These little ditties are AMAZING!!  So yummy and they really weren't that hard to make either.

Here is the recipe for Fudge & Orange Cookies

  • 3/4 cup butter (no substitutes), softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange peel
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons orange extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • TOPPING:
  • 1 (7 ounce) jar marshmallow creme
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in the egg, egg yolks, orange peel and extract. Combine the flour, ginger and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture.
  2. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 300 degrees F for 21-23 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks to cool.
  3. In a saucepan, combine the marshmallow creme, sugar, milk, butter and salt. Bring to a rolling boil over medium heat; boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat. Add chocolate chips and vanilla; stir until chips are melted. Spread over tops of cookies.
Drop by rounded spoonfuls

After they bake and are cooling

The yummy fudge topping

I decided to make it a sandwich cookie, so I spread a layer of fudge and then put another cookie on top

Don't they look good!

These truly are a yummy cookie.  Although it is hard to eat more then one at a time because they are so big.  My husband thought they were a little sweet but I thought they were perfect!  (I would recommend keeping them in a air tight container with a piece of bread so they don't dry out because then they are very crumbly and a little harder to eat)

Enjoy!

Turkey Treats

Thanksgiving is just a couple days away and I am so excited to get together with my family.  We always have a wild, crazy and LOUD time.  On just my side of the family there are 46 people!  Although we love when we ALL can get together it doesn't happen very often and sadly this year wont be one of them.  But of course we are still going to have lots of fun.  I decided I needed to lock my spot in as the favorite Aunt and made these cute little Turkey Treat Cups.

Twine and Pearl Bracelet

This bracelet is so easy to make and is so pretty!  It took me about 10 minutes and that included taking pictures for the tutorial!

I found a very similar one on http://unbomatindhiver.canalblog.com

The blog did not have a tutorial but I don't speak French anyways so I wouldn't have been able to follow it if it did.  But after studying the picture for a minute I was pretty sure I could figure it out.

I already had twine on hand and the beads.

Take 4 strands of twine, mine were probably close to 14 inches long which was plenty.  I wasn't eaxctly sure how I was going to connect the 2 ends so I tied a simply not at the end giving myself lots of the twine on the end just in case I needed to change something.

Even though I had 4 strands I chose to use 3 beads between each not so there would be an extra line.

Tie a knot

At this point those extra strands were getting in my way and bugging me so I trimmed them off.

Continue adding beads and tieing knots until you are at the length that works best for you.

At this point I untied the knot on the starting end because I decided instead of a clasp I wanted to tie the two ends together.

I wish I had taken more pics here, but I didn't.  I am sorry.  I tied the two loose ends together and then tied a knot with the strands on each side of the knot.  So there are 3 knots here.

Here is a close up of the knot.

Isn't it pretty!
