Apple Nachos Recipe

I found this supper yummy amazing recipe on Sugary Sweets

These Apple Nachos are FANTABULOUS! Yes, they are so good I had to make my own word to describe their deliciousness!

Here is Sugary Sweets' Recipe

4 large Granny Smith apples, sliced
35 large marshmallows
1/4 cup butter
35 caramels
1 Tbsp evaporated milk (or half and half)
 1/4 cup mini semi-sweet morsels
2 Tbsp chocolate syrup

Slice apples and arrange on platter. In saucepan, melt marshmallows and butter until creamy. Set aside. In microwave dish, melt caramels with milk (cooking in 30 second intervals, and stirring). Set aside. Pour marshmallow cream over apple slices, followed by caramel sauce. Drizzle chocolate syrup and sprinkle with peanuts and mini chocolate morsels. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Here is what Sugary Sweets' look like

Now I am sure hers are supper delicious but I changed mine just a tiny tad. I used 4 different types of apples (2 of each): Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, Fuji and Gala. I used the chocolate syrup, and her recipe for the melted marshmallows. I did not make my caramel sauce from scratch, I used caramel ice cream topping sauce, and instead of the mini chocolate chips I broke up Score candy bar and sprinkled that all over.

Here are mine

I am sure you could make about a million variations of this and it would still be FANTABULOUS

But be warned - you wont be able to stop eating these until they are gone!

UPDATE:  I have had several questions regarding the preparation so I thought I would address that.

Apples will brown if they sit out for not very long.  To help remedy the browning soak your sliced apples in a bowl or sink covered with water and some lemon.  The amount of lemon depends on the amount of water, but I would suggest a couple of squirts - yes that is a measuring technique.  This will let let the apples sit for an hour or two without browning - if they last that long!

  19. I'm going to an outdoor party this weekend... do you think they would last outside? Or maybe if I put a little lemon juice on them?

    1. I have brought them to an outdoor BBQ before and I just soaked the apple slices in water with a couple tablespoons of lemon juice for about 5 minutes before assembly to keep them from browning. But they still didn't last long enough for the apples to brown :) I hope your friends enjoy them!

    1. You can soak the apple slices in water with lemon juice for about 5 minutes and that will keep them from browning.

  23. I have a few questions I hope someone can answer... 1. Salted or unsalted butter? 2. How long can you set aside the melted marshmallows? It seems to me it would harden? 3. How far in advance should it be ok to make these? 2-3 hrs before a party?
    Thanks in advance!!!

    1. Either butter is fine and I have even used margarine before as well and that has worked.
The melted marshmallows will harden as they are left out. I have put my extra in the fridge and then microwave them to get them soft again.
As long as you soak the apples in lemon juice for awhile before the party a couple hours before hand would be fine.
I hope that helps! Thanks for the great questions!
