DIY Birthday Candy Jar

Several weeks ago was my hubby's birthday and I wanted to do something special for him.  We are lucky enough to work at the same place and I always leave about an hour later then him so I have the perfect opportunity to leave him a little something on his desk.
This jar is was very simple to make.  I found the awesome jar at Walmart on clearance for $2.  Can't beat $2! I bought the fun size of his favorite candy bar and then used scrapbook paper and ribbon that I had on hand.

For the medallion on the front I made a Rosette.  I have made these in the past and you can go here to see how I make them.  They are really quite easy!

I cut the green shape using  Stampin' Up Labels Framelits Die.

Used a smaller Labels Framelit on white card stock and stamped my saying "Birthdays are a Joy".  If you look close my a is backwards but I didn't want to stamp another so I just left it the way it was.

For the ribbon I took long strands of curling ribbon and curled it by pulling it across the edge of my scissors.  Put a couple strands together and fold them in the middle

and staple to secure them together.

To assemble the jar I filled it with the candy bars.  Stuck the medallion on the front with some glue dots, and pushed the stapled ends of the curled ribbon in between the candy bars so they were coming out of the top.

After he left work I snuck it down to his desk.

I hope you had a fabulous Birthday, Honey!
