DIY Halloween Treat Boxes

I know Halloween is almost here but I think I have time for one more quick tutorial. 

I wanted to give my friends at work a cute little Halloween treat and when I found the template for these boxes on Pinterest I knew they would be perfect.

The file was created by Kelleigh Ratzlaff and you can purchase the file at thedigichick.com.  I cut mine out using my Silhouette Cameo.

For the panels on the box I used black card stock and embossed them with a Stampin' Up! Spider Web Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Then you will need to cut the panels into 4 different sizes.

I embossed the tag that I put on the front of the boxes but I wanted it to have a bit of sparkle so I mixed my own embossing powder.  I used simple Black Embossing Powder, Silver super fine Glitter, and an axtra container to mix it in.  I filled the the container with the Black EP and put a bit of glitter in.  The picture shown here actually has too much glitter.  I had to dump half of it out and fill back up with the Black EP.  So it really does take just a little bit of glitter.

For the tag I used

• Heat Gun
• Emboss Pad
• Black/Glitter Embossing Mix
• Stamp from Toxic Treat SU Stamp Set

Ink the stamp on the Embossing Ink Pad, press stamp to paper. Pour embossing powder on paper and tap off.  The powder will stick to the stamp image.  Heat with the heat gun and it will cause the embossing powder to melt and makes the image pop up off the paper.  Once the image has cooled/dried I punched it out with the matching Decorative Label Punch.

I made rosettes to go behind the tags.  I have used rosettes on a lot of different projects.  If you would like the instructions you can find them here.  I used strips of paper that were 12 x 1 1/2 inches.

Now for the boxes!  The file from Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs comes ready to cut. The first picture is what the box looks like after it has been cut and folded on the score lines and the second picture is after the panels have been glued to the box.  I find it easier to glue the panels on before you assemble the box so you don't squish the box while putting them on.  The green squares is where to apply your adhesive before you put the box together.  I did not put adhesive on the top tabs so the box could be refillable.

Glue the rosette tag to the front of the box and fill with a fun treat!

This box is great and could be adapted to any season/event.
