25 DIY Christmas Advent Calendar Tutorials

My favorite thing about Christmas is all the traditions. I can remember getting together every year with my brothers and sisters and making our Advent Calendars for December.  It was a pretty simple calendar, a thick piece of ribbon with some untied yarn sticking through the center that we could tie a piece of candy too.  It was so exciting to untie 1 more piece of candy every night because that meant Christmas was one day closer!

My childhood Christmas Advent Calendar is prominent in my memories of Christmas and I want to pass that same feeling of excitement and anticipation on to my kids.

Several years ago I made my own Advent Calendar.  I made some with my Mom and Sister and I also had my kids decorate their own boxes. We have continued to use them every year.
