Swimming Party Invites & Cake Topper

My oldest daughter recently turned 10.  Isn't that scary!  I can't have 2 kids in the double digits - that makes me old!

For her birthday she wanted to go to the local swimming pool with her friends.  So that meant I wouldn't have to come up with party games and try to entertain a gaggle of silly, giggling girls.  SOLD!!  I was actually pretty excited for this party.

We went pretty simple since we were only coming back to the house for cake and opening presents.  So I called upon my trusty Silhouette Cameo and found a cute file clothesline swimsuits to help me out.

For the invites I cut card stock into 4x6 squares, cut out the swimsuits out of different scarpbook paper, baker's twine, and used a stamp set I had on hand for the invite.

For the cake topper I used 2 bamboo skewers, bakers twine and cut out two of each swimsuit so I could glue them back to back.

Tie a piece of bakers twine between the two skewer sticks

Glue the 2 wrong sides together with the twine in between and towards the top so it looks like the swimsuits are hanging.

Tip: When in the Silhouette software make sure to mirror the second image so the fit together perfectly.  I did not do this and the two pieces did not match like I would have liked.

It already looks cute and it isn't even on a cake yet!

Doesn't it look even cuter when it is on the cake!

My daughter had a lot of fun at her birthday party, and that is the most important part!

Welcome to Blog Stalking Thursday!

I had so much fun this last week at SNAP and I can't wait to share everything with you.  But real life has gotten in the way and I haven't found the time to sit and write about it.

So let's see what links had the most views from last week!

Sarah from Alderberry Hill shared a post about Odd Uses for Everyday Things in your house.  It is very interesting and some things I had never heard before.

Jessica from Green PB&Js showed us how she turned old frames into great home decor.

Mindie from Bacon Time with the Hungry Hungry Hypo (I love that blog name) shares 2 cute printables that were inspired by the movie Mary Poppins.  Now I want to go watch that movie!

Sarah from Welcome to the gOOd Life shows us this beautiful dress that she made.  I just love the color! And I want those shoes!

A huge thank you to everyone who linked up.  There were 146 link ups last week.  I just love to watch this party grow!

Paper Name Banner

All of my friends are crafty but we rarely get together to craft.  So I found a weekend none of us had plans (that was the hardest part) and came up with a fun craft that we could all make together.

We started on the flag pieces on the banner and used Adorning Edgelits and matching Embossing Folders from Stampin' Up! to give it a cool edge.

Glued some Pleated Satin Ribbon just above the embossing.

Made a cute paper rosette using Designer Rosette Bigz XL Die.

Cut a white doily using Paper Doily Sizzlit and stacked each on top of the other and glued together.

To embellish I cut flowers with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits folder and used Basic Pearls.

We all had so much fun making our banners our own and it was fun to see the different things that everybody added to their own.

We all had to laugh because one of my friends accidentally put her banner together backwards so she refused to have her picture taken but the rest of us thought it was too funny not to take a picture.

So now what should we do for our next craft day?

DIY iPad Decal

So awhile ago my husband went to a conference for work.  I was so excited when he called me on the last day and told me that he won an iPad from one of the vendors of the conference.  He told me not to get any ideas because it was his but within a week I was the one taking it to work everyday.  (I am so glad my sweet hubby puts up with me!)

I love the iPad and it is such an amazing tool but there was something I didn't like about it.

The vendor had engraved their information on the back.  Now I am not trying to say I am not grateful to this company, because I definitely am.  But I quickly got tired of people asking me about this company because I had no clue.

So in comes my handy, dandy Silhouette Cameo.  I have I told you before how much I love this machine because it really is amazing.  I LOVE owls so of course thought that would be the perfect thing for the back of my iPad.  I found this really cute Branch Owl file from Lori Whitlock on the Silhouette site and knew it would be perfect to cover the logo.

Now instead of people asking me about a company I know nothing about I am getting compliments on my cute owl iPad decal.  I love it!

And don't worry, now my hubby has the New iPad and I am now stuck with this old one :)

If you like this project please don't forget to share it with your friends!
