Create a Handmade Birthday Card

Create a Birthday Card

Have you ever wanted to make a birthday card for someone that you are close too?  I know that I love receiving handmade cards, because they feel so much more heart sent then store bought cards.

Cardmaking really is so much fun and it lets you become the artist, and you can make whatever is pleasing to your eye and you don't have to follow any rules.

I made this card for a Birthday Card swap at my work.  I will make 10 of this card and will turn them in to the organizer of the card swap.  When I get them back I will have 10 different cards from the others who participated.  I love card swaps they are a great way to get lots of different cards without all of the work.

Personalized Ceramic Plates w/ Sharpies

Tutorial for Personalized Ceramic Plates

If you have been on Pinterest at all in the last few months I am sure you have seen lots of sharpie projects on ceramic mugs, ceramic plates and lots of ceramic stuff.  There has been lots of talk as to whether this technique worked.  So I thought I would put it to the test.

My kids were very excited about the idea too so I went to the local Dollar Store and bought 4 white ceramic plates.

DIY Quilted Chevron Duvet Cover

DIY Quilted Chevron Duvet Cover Tutorial
I am so excited to share with you my latest project.  I have been working very hard on this King Chevron Quilted Duvet Cover.

I have been itching for a new bed set for the last several months, but I hate how stupid expensive bedding is.  Our bedding was from Ikea and while I loved it, we have had it for probably 5 years.   I still love my Ikea comforter but was ready for a new look.

I absolutely love Chevron, and I have heard rumors that the pattern is going out of style, but I don't care.  I am going to hold onto it.

Make Your Own Flower Ring

How to make jewelry

Isn't this a pretty ring?  I love how it looks like antique jewelry because of the coloring of the flower.  Would you like to learn how to make your own?  It is very quite simple - and those are my favorite types of jewelry tutorials!

Make your own Box of Chocolates

Create your own Box of Chocolates

Have you ever needed a quick little gift?  Well I have the perfect solution for you!

A couple weeks ago a teenage friend of ours watched our cute little dog Eva while we were out of town for a couple days.  I wanted to do something for her to show her our appreciation for her help.

While browsing my Pinterest Boards I found a tutorial for box made of paper that fits Dove Chocolates perfectly!  And what teenage girl doesn't like chocolate?!

The tutorial I found came from Clearly iStamp, and her tutorial is AMAZING with lots of step by step pictures and it is very easy to follow.  So if you would like to make this box I highly suggest going to her post This Dove's for You because I saw no reason in redoing what she had already done so well.

There were only a couple things that I did differently so let me show you what I did.

Blog Speak: Successful Consistency

Blog Speak: Successful Consistency

I am sure that you hear it all the time, “for your blog to be successful you need to be consistent!”. But what does that mean exactly?

When I first decided that I wanted to start my own blog consistency to me meant that I would blog several times a week.  My blog is now almost 2 years old and while I am by no means perfect, I have learned a couple things along the way.

The first one, in my opinion, is the one that people think of most.  Consistency means posting on a regular basis.  My blogging schedule is 4 times a week – Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.  This is a very realistic plan for me.  I can (usually) post 4 times a week and not feel overwhelmed and still get everything else done in my life that needs to get done.

Having a regular posting schedule is very important.  If you can be consistent your readers will see you as a reliable blogger with new and useful information.  But you need to find a schedule that will work for you.  It doesn’t need to be as specific as mine, like what days to post, but that is what works for me.

Consistency means coming up with a plan and sticking to it.  My blog has a mission statement and it is even a part of my header to remind me why I blog and why I do what I do.  I love to blog because I get to share what I create and hopefully inspire others to create as well!

I have had several companies contact me, wanting to purchase space on my blog or for me to endorse them.  I always try to keep my mission statement in mind, and if it doesn’t fall in line then I won’t work with them or endorse them because I don’t want to confuse my readers by sending them mixed messages.

Consistency means using other Social Medias to help promote your blog on a regular basis. Now this one is one that I am working on because I know that I could be better.  I once heard someone say that you should spend more time promoting and marketing your blog then you do on your blog itself.  After I heard that statement I had one of those “well that makes complete sense, why didn’t I think of that” moments.

Yes, my blog is where I ultimately want all of my readers to go, but to find them I need to grab their attention where they already are and bring them to my blog.  Pinterest is by far my largest contributor, but facebook and other blog’s linky parties play a big role as well.  But for those methods to be successful I need to make sure that I am posting new content regularly.

So whatever you want your blog to be, making sure that you are consistent really can go a long way.

What do you do to make your blog consistent?

Tasty Lil' Smokie Wraps Recipe

Easy Appetizers

These little bites of yummy goodness are amazing and is such an easy appetizer idea!

I know baking hot dogs in crescent rolls isn't new but I still had to share because they really are that good.  And these aren't just hot dogs, these are Lil' Smokies!

My mom and I made these when we all get together to sew on Saturday.
